The welding department, within Materials Engineering, offer an in house facility for procedure qualifications, welder qualification testing, research & development work and welding consultancy. The facility offers eight individual welding bays that can open into larger workspaces depending on the size of the work piece. To complement the welding facilities we have ample power supply for electric resistant heat treatment equipment and a fully equipped machine shop for preparing weld joints.
Recognising the needs of our customers, the welding department are happy to carry out any of the above functions at client sites.
The department has access to an extensive reference and specifications library, which covers welding, materials, design, testing, etc. (ASME, ASTM, BS, AWS, etc.)
Our customer base, over 25 years, has ranged from small independent workshops to major players in the North Sea and global oil and gas industries. With such a customer base comes a wide variety of work, which over the years has helped us accumulate a great deal of experience in the many processes and materials utilised in these varied industries. The day-to-day usage of welding related specifications also means we are in a position to advise on best practices and most advantageous usage of individual specification to meet our customers qualification and production needs.
